Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Institute for Global Tobacco Control offers free online course on the dangers of smoking and COVID-19

Current evidence shows the negative effects of smoking on COVID-19 outcomes, providing another compelling reason and an added sense of urgency for people to stop using tobacco products. As India deals with an unprecedented outbreak of infections, any measures taken to curb the negative effects of COVID-19 must be explored and implemented. This course can help amplify that effort.

The Tobacco and COVID-19 Course joins a distinguished suite of existing free online courses, which have been taken by more than 6,700 participants from over 100 countries around the world.

Global tobacco control: learning from the experts is a comprehensive introduction to the tobacco epidemic with 27 subject matter experts from 14 countries. Course participants will have a unique global perspective on the burden of tobacco on death and disease. (Available in: ESPAÑOL, FRANÇAIS, Português, Tiếng Việt, РУССКИЙ, العربية, 中文)

Learning from the Experts: A Course for Healthcare Providers is an online course developed with input from world-renowned tobacco control advocates in health careers. Designed for busy healthcare professionals, this course provides up-to-date information on the role healthcare professionals can play in tobacco control and how to help their patients quit smoking. Recent updates to the course include how withdrawal medications work; how to help a patient quit smokeless tobacco and other smokeless tobacco products; and address the practical issues clinicians face when helping their patients quit smoking.

All three courses are free to all users worldwide and feature a responsive design that allows users to take the course at their own pace on any device. Users who complete the course receive a certificate of completion from the Institute for Global Tobacco Control.
