From diehard smoker to healthy eater: Vetrimaaran’s transformation story is what you need for 2022

Award-winning national filmmaker Vetrimaaran spoke about his eating habits that made him healthy. Vetrimaaran revealed that he used to eat sweets all night long as he binge-watched movies. So much so that his family had to hide the candies and snacks from him. On top of that, he was a die-hard smoker, a habit he developed when he was 13.

However, after years of non-stop smoking, coupled with an abnormal diet, Vetrimaaran’s health took a hit. And he realized that something was wrong with him. The filmmaker requested medical help. Around 2008, when Vetrimaaran did some tests, he found out that he was at a higher risk for developing heart disease. It was then that he decided to make healthier lifestyle choices.

“I went to a night performance by Vaaranam Aayiram (2008). After leaving the theater, I smoked a cigarette. And I’ve never smoked since, ”Vetrimaaran told Film Companion.

Vetrimaaran goes on to explain how he has radically changed his diet, his journey with the Keto diet and organic farming. However, before he begins to reveal his eating habits, he sets a big warning. All he said during the interview were the things that worked for him. And it shouldn’t be done by anyone without professional advice. But, Vetrimaaran’s knowledge of healthy eating and his simple yardstick for judging what is good for our body is enough to encourage us to be aware of what we are putting in our mouths. Not for nothing, they say, you are what you eat.

On the construction side, Vetrimaaran is now taking care of the pre-production of Vaadi Vaasal. The film stars Suriya in the lead role.
