Firecrackers, cigarettes, alcohol worth over RM2 million seized in Johor, Selangor
SHAH ALAM: Police have arrested several distribution unions of smuggled cigarettes, alcohol and firecrackers worth over RM2 million in Selangor and Johor in six separate raids from last Sunday to yesterday.
General Operations Forces (GOF) Central Brigade Commander SAC Muhammad Abdul Halim said eight local men, aged 33 to 64, were also arrested in the raids.
“During the first raid in Batu Pahat, Johor, on May 2 at 2:30 pm, we seized various types of cigarettes and firecrackers, believed to be smuggled, valued at RM 135,998.
“During the second raid carried out in a room in Sungai Tangkas, Kajang, Selangor, Monday at 4 pm, we seized various types of firecrackers worth 509,600 RM,” he said today in a statement. communicated.
Muhammad said the third raid on Friday at a facility in Pasir Gudang, Johor, and the team seized various types of firecrackers worth RM 115,318.
“The fourth raid which was carried out around 11 am Friday in Muar, Johor and various types of firecrackers worth RM352,350 were seized.
The next raid was carried out at 12:30 p.m. the same day in Skudai, Johor and contraband cigarettes worth RM913,000 were seized, he said.
Muhammad said the latest raid was in Taman Desa Subang, where the team seized various types of alcohol worth RM 288,964 from a three-ton truck at 4:45 p.m. yesterday.
He said the cases would be investigated under section 8 of the 1957 Explosives Act and section 135 (1) of the 1967 Customs Act. -Bernama
